The central image depicts Cologne Cathedral, one of the world’s largest and most impressive churches. Begun in 1248, construction on the building was wasn’t fully completed until 1880. Side images show Roosters Gate (Hahnentor) and St. Severin’s Gate, two of four gates that have been preserved from the former city walls (built c. 1180-1220) and converted into museums.
