The building that served as the model for this stein is the landmark Frauenturm, a defensive tower constructed in the 16th century at Nuremberg’s main gate.
“F&M/N” is the mark of Felsenstein & Mainser, a Nuremberg finishing shop and distributor.
A variation of this stein (below right) was made for the 1903 “X Deutsches Turnfest – Nürnberg” (10th German Gymnastics Festival – Nuremberg) and may be marked either “F&M/N”, “Georg Leykauf/Nürnberg” or “L. Ostermayr/Nürnberg”.
