In this scene from Siegfried, the third opera in Richard Wagner’s monumental Ring cycle, the mythical hero Siegfried, having first passed through a magical ring of fire, awakens the sleeping valkyrie Brunhilde with a kiss.
Text is from a circa 1857 unattributed student song entitled “Das schwarzbraune Bier”.
