The somewhat unusual text on this stein, suggesting that barley juice and hops, the principal ingredients in traditional beer, produce a less than satisfying product, appears to be a sentiment that might be expressed at Zum Franziskaner (see lid inlay), a Munich Restaurant best known for its Franziskaner Weissbier, a wheat beer and competitor to barley-based brews.
